Dr. Danielle Karo-Atar

Our research centers on the immune response to infectious diseases, our focus is enteric pathogen infections—particularly helminth infections. We integrate stem cell biology and immunology to investigate host-pathogen interactions at the intestinal epithelial interface. We use advanced methodologies including 3D organoid cultures, confocal imaging, transcriptomic analyses, and in vivo genetic models to elucidate how helminths influence intestinal immunity with the aim to understand the intestinal response to damage and develop new therapeutic approaches to promote intestinal health.
